Your Beauty Problems Solved
Beauty & Life on a Budget, by Rachel Harris
An unexpected pimple, pants that are too long, deodorant marks on your black shirt. The list goes on and on when we think of our daily beauty struggles. When I find an idea that works, I share it with my gal pals, so it seems natural that these ideas would make a good column this week.
Read on, and arm yourself with the following five head to toe solutions. Your mornings will go smoother and you might just get out the door a few minutes earlier than usual.

Solution #1: Noxzema Triple Clean Anti-Blemish Pads
For a lot of women, a monthly period brings along uninvited acne. Every month, I can count on several pimples popping up during that dreaded week. I have found an easy and quick solution with Noxzema’ Triple Clean Anti-Blemish Pads. |
 |
Just go to www.walgreens.com and enter this product in the search field. Multiple positive reviews pop up with women raving about this product. From teenagers to older women battling hormonal changes, they write about how much they love these magical pads.
I like the ease of quickly patting the pad on the pimple. I also tend to have dry skin, but Noxzema does not dry out my face. Use this to purify pores, treat and prevent blemishes and refresh your complexion. I use this product as needed, but several reviewers wrote that they use it faithfully every night or morning and that the acne has not returned. The convenient packaging and pad application also makes this ideal for traveling. |

| Solution #2: Arm & Hammer Advance Toothpaste |
Although almost 25 years ago, I still remember my braces coming off right before Senior Prom. My excitement was halted when I noticed that my teeth looked yellow after being covered up for so long by the metal. The dentist told me that light yellow was the natural color of my teeth. It wasn’t a big deal and nothing that anyone noticed except for me.

 |
Fast forward twenty years, and my light yellow teeth now match the "before" photos for teeth whitening treatments, products and procedures. Many of those procedures cost time and money.
Not wanting to invest in yet another credit card charge and time-consuming appointment, I took Dancing with the Stars celebrity Lisa Rinna's advice and tried her favorite toothpaste. Her must-have list appeared in People Magazine's March 3rd issue, and I agree that this is the way to go to get bright and white teeth. It works best when used with an electric toothbrush like the one I mentioned in my column last month, the Oral Braun B toothbrush.
To get a free sample of this toothpaste, go to www.armandhammer.com which also has some great tips on the multiple uses of baking soda. |

Solution #3: Warm Olive Oil
Magical olive oil. I continue to discover additional benefits of this liquid gold almost every day. One of my favorite books, 501 Easy Health Tips by Kellie Collins suggests soaking your hands in a warm bowl of olive oil once a week. I also know a nail tech that regularly gives her clients hot oil soaks to fix dry and damaged nails.
So, the next time you grab some olive oil for your favorite recipe, stop and give yourself a manicure, too. |

Solution #4: Gal Pal Garment Deodorant Remover
Just when you think you look put together for the day, you catch a glimpse in the mirror of white streaks on the side of your black blouse. It is that last frustrating annoyance that interrupts the flow of my morning, forces me to find a wet washcloth and wipe in vain! |
 |
| This simple little problem always bugged me, so I was thrilled to learn about two gals who invented a remedy to this common problem. It comes in the form of a cute pink round sponge called the Gal Pal Garment Deodorant Remover. For only $10, these two sponges are reusable and they work. You simply rub the sponge with the grain of the fabric over that pesky white mark and you and your outfit are good to go. You can go on with your day instead of going to the dry cleaners. I love women who think of this stuff! Order at www.gal-pal.com or stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond and Nordstrom. |

Solution #5: Zakkerz Temporary Pant Roll-Up Wrap
At 5 feet, 3 inches tall and a weight that is a bit heavy for that height, I am constantly finding pants that fit me in the waist, but are way too long. I figure I'll get that great pair of slacks hemmed or only wear them with my favorite highest heels.
Of course, I forget about all that until the day I plan to wear the pants! So, I am stuck with pants that look great on my waist, but will be tripped on and stepped on all day long. Or you may own pants that are meant to be worn with heels, but want the flexibility to switch to sneakers if you walk on your lunch break. |
 |
Two New York City sisters, along with their mother, decided to solve your pant problem one leg at a time… as they say on their company website. They brainstormed and birthed a unique product called Zakkerz, a set of magnet pant roll ups that give your pants a lift when your slacks are dragging you down into the dirt, pavement and wherever else your legs take you in your daily life.
The photos illustrates how they work. I tried my Zakkerz out with black pants, so they blended right in. The company says that additional colors are coming soon. I used my Zakkerz until I could find time to get the hem done. Many women use the product daily since they only want to shorten their pants the part of the day where they switch to sneakers. A set of four sells for $27 at www.zakkerz.com |
Hopefully one or more of these ideas comes to your beauty rescue in the future. I especially love discovering products that are invented by women just like us… women looking to save money, gain time and get out the door on time looking half-way decent.
