Stamping Combinations

Expert Tips from Scrapbooker Heidi Swapp

I will tell you a secret... I am a horrible stamper. I am not sure if it’s just the lack of patience, or the unwillingness to spend the money on wood-mounted stamps! However, when I was introduced to the magic of clear acrylic stamps, I was hooked! Not only are they totally cheap... which I love, but the clear-ness of them makes them SO easy to use! You can see right where you are stamping, and it really cuts out the guess work that usually keeps me from using rubber stamps!

To get started in creating stamps, I went with some of my favorite handwritten words. These can be purchased individually - all to be used with the Heidi Swapp acrylic block. To use, simply peel the stamp from the clear acetate backer, and place onto the acrylic block. Ink the stamp and press firmly where desired! It’s perfect every time! To accent the large title words, I decided to create some little roll-stamps that would have small corresponding words. Here are a few ways to use the combinations, and to get you thinking!

“all my love”: Here I stamped “all my love” with black ink just onto white cardstock. Then I stamped the words “truly, madly, deeply” from the LOVE roller stamp onto pink cardstock, leaving just enough room between each word to adhere a little jewel! To pull it all together, I have sewn a box around the two.
“cherish”: I used the same stamp to show you how it looks when you use ink versus paint. On the pink “cherish”, I used white acrylic paint on both the clear stamp and the roller stamp. I love the chunky look of the paint. I added a little jewel for the dot of the “i”.  On the green dot paper, I again used black ink, and then black ink with the roller stamps onto the orange cardstock. I quickly cut the words out and attached them with brads. You can see how the sub-tittles support the main title.
“favorite”: Once again, I chose to use black ink this time, I wanted the roller stamped words to stand out a little more, so I stamped them directly onto a pink chipboard strip. I then cut them to size and sanded the edges. The surface of the chipboard is a little slick, so I chose to use “staz on” ink.
“i adore you”: Some of the roller stamps have little sentiments that don’t need the main title. For this, I stamped with dark pink ink onto a journaling spot and backed that with white cardstock and attached it to a circle cut from cardstock and embellished with my favorite BLING frame!
“i love you” envelope: Many of these sentiments and titles are perfect for cards and announcements. Here is a quick fun way to embellish an envelope... I stamped the roller word “i love you” and then added some wings, and layered a ghost flower over top.
“baby”: It’s so easy to mix colors as you apply them directly to the stamp. That is what i did on this little baby announcement piece. Start at the bottom, and just dab the color on as you go up.
“you are my love” card: here is just another example of utilizing the roller stamps as support for the large stamps... the pink is chalk ink. Be sure to always clean the stamps right after use!
