Create a 3-D Look with Ghost
Expert Tips from Scrapbooker Heidi Swapp
One product I love to use is ghost.
You will find items such as frames, alphabets, hearts, flowers, stars and snowflakes all made from this really cool thick transparent material.
I get lots of questions about how to use the ghost items... and these techniques top my list!

Edging
Ghost comes in both clear and color... running a little paint along the edges of the different shapes is a great way to add definition and make them stand out better on a page. My favorite way to edge ghost is using a KRYLON paint pen! They come in about every color, and make application quick and easy! |
Dimensional paint
Adding little dots or doodles is easy and has a great 3-D effect when you try a little dimensional paint. As long as you go easy with it, it dries quickly and it comes in tons of colors! |
|
Sanding
I love to sand the colored ghost to distress.
The color is printed- so a little sanding will remove that color and expose just the clear material.
Of course, I love that look! |
Painting
Ghost can easily become any color needed for any project with a bit of paint. On this sample, I added some rub-on flowers to the front, then painted the backs. It’s fun to take advantage of both sides to create different layered looks. |
Glitter
I love the pop of glitter... so I couldn’t resist putting this beautiful crystal glitter on this ghost snowflake. I just spread a little glue all over the surface and dipped the snowflake in. |
Backing:
Ghost can take on any printed/patterned paper by simply gluing the ghost images on top of your favorite paper, and then cutting around them with a paper knife. |
Attaching: anything goes...sewing machine, brads, staples, glue or clips. |
Have fun!
