All About Heidi Swapp

How did you get started?
What started out as a simple hobby has exploded into a fulltime career for me. Making this into a business was not a goal of mine when my first child was born and scrapbooking became a true passion! Over the years, as I taught, wrote articles, contributed to books and developed and designed products... things have just evolved that way! I would never have considered myself some big business woman or marketing guru... but I guess you do what you have to do and figure it out along the way! I am so grateful for the many different opportunities and people that have helped me, mentored me and encouraged me along the path! I truly love what I do!
Tell us about some of your milestones?
I became part of the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame in 2000. I have since become a respected designer throughout the industry, known primarily for my use of trend-setting materials and artistic flair.  I've taught classes locally, nationally and internationally for seven years and am a frequent contributor to Creating Keepsakes Magazine. I've also contributed to several publications including Designing with Notions, Designing with Texture, Beyond Metal, Beyond Attachments, A Season of Giving and the Making Memories Creative Library.
What do you do when you're not scrapbooking?
When I'm not scrapbooking I'm traveling, running, taking photos of anything and everything, staying up late or talking to friends on the phone. And in my moments of weakness, I indulge in chocolate chip cookies and chips and salsa from Chili's. I've been married to my husband, Eric for 11 years and I'm the mother to Colton, eight; Cory, seven; and Quincy, five. We are expecting our fourth child this August. My family and I currently reside in Mesa, Arizona.
What are you best known for?
I would say that first and foremost is my handwriting — which is a really strange thing to be known for! Now that I have developed all kinds of products such as stickers, rub-ons, stamps, etc. that feature my handwriting... it's common to see my signature script on projects all over the world! It's a little freaky still! I am also known for thinking outside the box and turning everyday items into embellishments on scrapbook pages and cards.
What’s your latest addition?
My newest addition is a book called 'Love Your Handwriting' which was released in the summer of 2005. I launched my own line of products under the name 'Heidi Swapp' in February of 2005, and continue to release new products three times a year.
