CANAL

CANAL Promises to Rock the Scottsdale Dining Scene with its Fusion of Food, Fashion and Entertainment.

Scottsdale's hottest new restaurant will make its debut on October 16th in an electrifying fusion of food, fashion and entertainment. CANAL at Southbridge, the long-awaited urban village on the banks of the Arizona canal, will transform the Scottsdale restaurant scene with an exciting menu of “fresh global cuisine” by Executive Chef Justin Beckett, an edgy design by architects Allen + Philp, and a fashion runway flanked by projection screens that will broadcast everything from the latest Milan couture show to inspiring artistic imagery. The result will be a dining experience never seen in Scottsdale, with a celebrity-friendly vibe that will cater to the city’s most in-the-know residents. CANAL will be located adjacent to a one-of-a-kind shopping area at SouthBridge known as The Mix – a collection of chic independent restaurants, trend-setting fashion boutiques and eclectic shops, hand picked by successful retailer Jennifer Croll.  Located on the second level, the restaurant will be connected to The Mix shopping experience by a spectacular circular staircase.

A stylish color scheme of warm golds, chocolate browns and deep reds will set the tone as patrons enter the restaurant. Attractive servers in fashion-forward dress will lead them to their tables, past an impressive S-shaped runway carved down the middle of the restaurant for live fashion shows. Chairs, silverware and glassware will all reflect the same sophistication in their graceful shapes.

An expansive glass wall, opening to views of the canal, will give the restaurant a cool, airy quality and will lead to outdoor seating along its banks, while sheer curtains will offer a measure of intimacy for semi-private dining events, from bridal showers to bachelorette parties. Artistic, beautifully carved wood tables were designed with rich wood grain removable tops--a striking complement to the ambient tableside lighting. Outdoor seating will be equally stylish, with banquette seating around a fire pit and a gazebo with umbrellas that will be under lit to offer a soft glow under the night sky.

Thirty feet of high-definition projection screens with extensive audiovisual equipment will “charge” the atmosphere at CANAL. When they’re not broadcasting fashion and other events, the screens will display as many as six high-impact images that will reflect the day’s dining theme. During food-themed events, the screens will project the action in the kitchen.

Executive Chef Justin Beckett's dramatic vertical food flights allow the adventurous to sample multiple flavors from the menu. “These flights promote sharing and exploration, pair them with matching wine flights and the tastes are endless.” Features include Ahi Three Ways, Confit Duck Tacos and “The $30 Sandwich”, a fantasy of lobster tail, boursin cheese and chanterelle mushrooms. In addition to small plates, salads and sandwiches the Canal dinner menu will also feature hearty fare such as an Aged Prime New York Steak as well as Braised and Grilled Beef Short Ribs.
