Word of the Week
From Wine Taster Jill Stacey
Each week, Jill is helping us add a new wine word to our vocabulary. This week's word is Bordeaux.
What does “Bordeaux” mean? Bordeaux wine, refers to all wine, red or white, produced in the Bordeaux region of France
Bordeaux has the reputation as one of the greatest wine regions in the world. Some of the most expensive wines in the world hail from Bordeaux. Certain people would never dream of ordering anything but Classified Growth Bordeaux in a restaurant. However, if you are just starting out, buying an expensive, highly rated Bordeaux wine isn’t a sensible idea. If you begin with an easy drinking less costly Bordeaux wine first, you can develop a frame of reference to evaluate and better appreciate the finer Bordeaux. A modest Bordeaux is the perfect match for everyday fare and the perfect way to develop your palate.
