Flavorful and Fruity Wines

Over the last couple of weeks Jill has taken us on a tour of wine "styles"...Crisp, Silky, Rich and Bubbly.
This week we focus on the fruity style.
 Our "Fruity" Style is our light bodied red wine category. Don't confuse it with only sweet wines. If you find your style is "fruity" and you only tried a Cabernet Sauvignon, then more than likely you would like the other wines found in the fruity section. Such as a Fruity Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Syrah or blend. Fruity wines are fruity forward, jammy and grapey. They have flavors of raspberry, strawberry & blueberry with a finish that is usually soft without lingering flavors or tartness. They pair perfectly with salmon, turkey, chicken, pasta, pizza, salads and even a sandwich on a picnic.
Some recommended wines from Fruity Style are:
Robert's Rock Shiraz/Malbec ~ South Africa ~ $12.99 Light wine with bright cherry coloring. Exciting aromas and flavors of cherry and raspberry with an undercurrent of sweet smoky spices. Good fruit, juicy flavors, soft finish. Great for summer BBQ!
Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon ~ Robertson South Africa ~ $10.99 Aromas of ripe blackcurrant and plumy fruit with a hint of mint. Toasty oak aromas and sweet fruit flavors are balanced by soft ripe tannins. Good structure, lengthy finish.
Graziano Zinfandel ~ Medocino, California ~ $18.99 Deep aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, white pepper and hints of tasty oak. Uplifting flavors of raspberry and earth combine to give this juicy wine a generous mouth feel.
Terre di Gioia Pinot Nero Fruili, Italy ~ $17.99 Rich and intense in flavor with silky texture of black cherry and an aroma that will certainly please your palate and craves to be eaten with salmon or turkey but don't forget the summer salads too! This woman wine maker has created this Pinot Noir as a "beautiful" wine. Very elegant!
