The Perfect Wine for A Yummy Dessert
Advice from Wine Taster Jill Stacey

”I am serving Amaretto Canolli for a party and I have no idea what kind of wine to serve with my canollis. Please help! Thank you so much.”
Hi Nancy,
Yummy… Amaretto Cannoli! There are a couple of ways you can go with this dessert. My first thought is to go with Italian Prosecco. It’s a bubbly wine that is demi-sec, technical term for “slight sweetness” on the finish. It is just enough to make the Canolli bubble in your mouth without over powering the Amaretto flavors! Another bubbly wine is a Moscato that is less bubbly with more sweet and without too much fruit to interrupt the flavor of the Amaretto. Some labels to look for: Canelli Prosecco, Mionetto il Processco or il Moscato.
However, if this is a celebration, go for the Classic Sparkling Wine or Champagne. There are some very inexpensive sparkling wines that are extremely good. One I carry is Charles de Ferre Brut, slight nuttiness on the finish, it’s not completely dry and it’s only $10.99!
Over the last couple of weeks Jill has taken us on a tour of wine "styles"...Crisp, Silky, Rich, Bubbly, Fruity, Mellow and Bold.
Check back next time when Jill finishes off her wine style list with Nectars.
