Alternative Wines
Here's an interesting question for all of you: What other fruits have been made into wine and what have you had? Here are the wines I have had made with alternative fruit (other than grapes).  Sweet Pea – Apple Wine – Another Guilty Pleasure for my fellow Sweet Connections Members! Yes you read right – this is a wine made from apples in, where else – Washington State! Sweet Pea is produced with only the finest apples that Washington has to offer. After harvesting the apples, they are hand-selected by the winemakers, crushed, pressed, and the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks to develop the crisp, refreshing flavors. A touch of natural peach flavor is added at the end to balance the crisp apple nuances with the sweetness of a peach. Tasting Notes: Juicy, ripe apples fill the nose and palate with hints of fresh peaches. Just when you think it’s going to be apple juice your palate is challenged with the crisp acidity and clean finish. Low alcohol makes this wine a light, anytime sipper!
Another Apple Wine comes from Magnotta Vineyards in Canada – this is “frozen” apple wine and definitely a dessert wine. Its syrup texture coats your mouth with baked apple pie flavors. We have created apple compote with this wine that you can pour over brie cheese for a scrumptious dessert!
