As I age, is losing weight really more difficult?
Q & A with Women's Health Hero, Dr. Tutera
People always say it's harder to lose weight once you get older. Is that because of menopause? Why does that happen and what can I do to hold my weight as I age?
Losing weight as we age is more difficult. The main reason is the decrease in metabolic rate we undergo as we age. One of the reasons we get “fatter” as we age is the loss of testosterone which causes our muscles to lose their ability to burn fat, fuel our metabolic rate, and give us energy.
