Fitness Gift Ideas
Q & A with Therapist Lauren Bounds
Once again the holidays are upon us...so why not give a gift that's fitness related? What a great gift to help someone stick to their New Year’s resolution!
Here are some ideas:
Give a membership to a local gym, a yoga or spin class or a session or two with a personal trainer.
You could also choose new running or hiking shoes. It's a great time of the year to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
Maybe your special someone is a homebody - how about some home workout equipment? A jump rope or a couple of dumbbell sets, and a workout video can go a long way.
If you're a big spender you could purchase larger in home workout equipment like a treadmill or an elliptical trainer or even a stationary bike…or even a multi-station workout system.
Is your special someone an athlete or aspiring to be a marathoner, tri-athlete or cyclist? How about a consult with a coach to help them achieve whatever their goal may be. Couple that with a nutritional assessment and you could have yourself an Olympic caliber athlete.
Perhaps your someone is an adventurer - how about a kayaking trip, rafting trip, or backpacking gear? The options are endless.
The gift could also be as simple as giving some of your own time by agreeing to become a workout buddy. Having someone to hold you accountable will increase the likelihood you'll both show up to workout, and decrease the intimidation of trying something new by yourself. So instead of going to coffee or a movie with your friend, get out and go for a walk, hike, bike ride, go to a workout class together.
Happy Holidays!
