Cowboy Biscuits

From Member Royalle from Wellton

biscuits

"My Grandma always made these biscuits for dinner.  Fresh out of the oven they are super yummy."  ~ Royalle

INGREDIENTS

1 quart Warm Buttermilk
2/3 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
6-8 cups Flour (maybe more)

1/2 cup shortening
2 packs yeast dissolved in warm water

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix dry ingredients, add shortening milk and yeast. Mix well and let rise to double. Put in fridge. Take out what is needed in each baking. Butter pan. Roll dough into small balls and flatten slightly as you put them in pan. Cover with butter. Let rise until doubled.

Bake at 400 degrees about 20 minutes. Can keep dough indefinitely if covered.

For Cinnamon Rolls, roll out dough like making a pie. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Roll dough and cut into one inch thick pieces for cinnamon rolls. Bake as directed.
