A Sweet Connection member from Gilbert asked our Relationship Barista, Lissa Coffey for help.
What about when you don't know if it's love or hate after 12 years? We're not married but do have children. I don't feel he is clearly capable of knowing what love is to me, himself or the children and I don't want to ever be intimate because I'm never in the mood.
Here's Lissa's advice:
Dear Sweet Connection Member,
The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. It sounds like you still have strong feelings for this man. Do you talk with your partner about how you feel? And how he feels? It's reasonable after 12 years together to feel unappreciated. Maybe that's how your partner feels, too. Spend some time alone together; get out of the house, even if it's just to a local motel. Talk! Look into each other's eyes and really connect. See how you can help each other, and how you might start to get close again. Think about what brought you together in the first place, and share those stories with each other. Hold hands. It is possible to fall back in love again.
Let me know how it goes! Lissa.
