A Parent without a Partner

Coffey Talk, with Relationship Expert Lissa Coffey

”I am a divorced single mom and looked for parents without partners and it says Arizona does not have a chapter. I have tried on-line at match and yahoo and every man has lies about his age or something about himself. single parent romance How does one trust a man after he can lie about something that is so simple and just a number? Where can we meet good men? I want to meet one to compliment me and my life, not complete me. I am complete and more so with my daughter but would like adult interaction with a man in my life. Please advise.

I have tried e-harmony and one was a good match but he can’t make up his mind with what he wants and lied about his age as well. I see he also has his profiles up on match and yahoo as well so he is still looking. I like to date one person and see where it goes, not a bunch. And, who has time anyway when you’re a parent. Any helpful tips?"

Dear Parent without a Partner,
There are lots of great ways to meet nice men. Start by signing up for classes.  What interests you? Maybe dancing? Dance classes work well because singles get paired up with different partners several times in one class, so you get to "test drive" potential dates! What about wine tasting? Find classes that you would like to take, and that way if you don't happen to meet anyone you'll still have a good time while you're there. And if you do meet someone then you have this particular interest in common! Dinner clubs are another really fun way to meet people. They get 8-10 people together who have never met, and you all have dinner at a nice restaurant. You can also meet men while you're volunteering - how about spending a weekend with Habitat for Humanity? Or setting up a local 10K? Think about the kind of man you want to meet, and go to places that he'd go to. And if you're really adventurous, start your own Parents without Partners chapter! It sounds like there are a lot of single parents in Arizona who would thank you.

Love,
~ Lissa
