Never Too Old To Love
Coffey Talk, with Relationship Expert Lissa Coffey
How old is too old to be a foster parent? One member wants to know.
"The other night at dinner my husband brought up the subject of foster parenting. I will be 50 in a few months and am wondering if we are too old for this. I know there are a lot of children that are in desperate need of good and loving homes which I am certain my husband and I can provide, but our age is a concern. Does anyone have any thoughts?"
Dear Ready to Love,
This is a conversation that has to take place over more than one meal. Foster parenting is a huge responsibility. Are you too old? No way! But there are many other things you must consider besides your age. If you're serious about it, talk with an agency and find out exactly what is required of you, what obstacles you might be up against, and what they're looking for in foster parents. Then you'll be better able to make a decision that is right for you.
Love,
~ Lissa
