Keeping the Romance Alive

Advice from Relationship Expert Lissa Coffey

grandma's boy

Whether it's a summer romance that's struggling to hang on, or a long-time commitment that's cooled over time, we asked our Relationship Barista for tips to keep the romance alive.

After you've been together awhile it's easy to settle into a comfortable routine.  Pretty soon it's the same-old, same-old and you're getting bored.  Ready to get those embers burning again?  Here are a few tips.

Experience something new together.
Try out an exotic new restaurant, take a foreign language class, or spend a weekend away somewhere you've never been.  When you both experience something new for the first time it's a bonding experience, and it opens your eyes to all the other new things you can experience together.

The element of surprise!  Shake things up by surprising your sweetie.  Pop into his office with a picnic lunch.  Make a CD of your favorite songs and set it to play when he starts the car.  Tuck a love note into his pocket or billfold.

One word: massage.  There's nothing like spending time alone touching each other.  Relax those tired muscles and re-connect with the one you love.  Light some candles, put on some sensual music, and warm up some massage oil.  You don't have to be an expert. Just let your intuition guide you.

Play games.  Not mind games, board games!  Turn off the TV, step away from the computer, and bring out the Scrabble board.  Try backgammon, Pente, or even strip poker!  Just have fun and laugh together.
