Am I Wasting My Time with Him?

I just recently got divorced, I met a guy. He is the son of a boyfriend that dated my friend. I met him last year. But he was dating another woman at that time, they broke-up.
He just lost his Dad, I’ve been there for him, but he is very cold and is not affectionate or shows very little interest. I've been seeing him on and off, I've gone out with him.
He has a bad temper and is very controlling. When I talk about my problems he does not want to hear it. I feel like I am wasting my time. I do not want to fall in love. Or hurt him in any way. What should I do?
Lissa’s Advice:
And just why do you want to be with this guy? It's nice of you to help him through his loss, but you're under no obligation to date him. What you should do is to wish him well, and go out with someone who is exactly the opposite of this guy. Look for someone warm and affectionate and kind. That sounds more like someone your type, don't you think?
