Art was always an interest of mine since childhood. I was always drawing or painting, and became more involved with art in high school. After contemplating the challenges of deciding to become a professional artist, I took the plunge and enrolled in the Art School at Arizona State University. My inspirations are varied, but mostly dependant on my own life experiences. I love meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, admiring architecture, and finding spiritual purpose. All these personal characteristics are sometimes channeled through dreams I experience, and ultimately represented in my artwork. I think the passion is inherent. Many people are creative, but a true artist constantly produces. The real work of an artist begins with every finished piece.

What was your first piece of art?
It's hard to remember, I started drawing at a very early age, but I still have the very first painting I ever tried at age 7 or 8. It was a headshot of a border collie, painted with enamel on notebook paper. It's a bit fragile at this state.

How would you categorize your art?
I consider my artwork to be expressive, both in the contemporary abstract and the more representational styles that I work within.

What types of mediums do you use for your art pieces?
My paintings are mostly a combination of oil and acrylic. It's rare for me not to use both types of paint in one painting. I also incorporate metal in some work, but refrain from becoming to eclectic with materials. I want the paint to speak on its own. It can say a lot when it's used intelligently.

What else would you like people to know about your artwork?
My artwork is broad in style. It's not a typical characteristic of an artist to consistently work within multiple ranges of style, and still provide the viewer with a sense of purpose. I hope my intentions and inspirations help create an understanding that I enjoy painting many styles of artwork.
