Are you a native of Arizona?
No, but I've lived here for 18 years. I'm originally from northwestern New Mexico.

How did you get involved in art?
I don't remember. I think I'd just learned to walk.

What are your inspirations for your art pieces?
My inspiration comes from everywhere. Each day sends me more ideas than I could possibly ever finish, so I try to at least sketch or describe them in my notebooks.

How would you categorize your art?
Whatever medium I use, the work itself is likely to be densely-ornamented with lots of textures and/or colors.

What types of mediums do you use for your art pieces?
Depending on the artwork, I've used wood, leather, various fabrics, silver, gemstones, linen and polyester thread, and glass beads. After nearly a decade in a commercial art studio, I've started painting on my own again, using acrylic on linen and cotton canvas.

What is the price range of your art?
Miniature books sell for $70 to $150, larger books for $250 to $3000. Wall hangings sell for $250 to $5000, depending on the size and complexity. My silver jewelry and knotted gemstone necklaces sell from $100 to $800.

Where can people see your art?
Textures Gallery at ArtSpace, 4235 N. Marshall Way, Scottsdale and Jewelry Innovations Gallery, 4940 E. Ray Road Suite 75, Ahwatuckee. Online, some of my artists' books can be seen at www.califiabooks.com.

What else would you like people to know about your artwork?
None of my work is going to be 'quick-and-easy crafts'. I can bead or embroider a square inch of fabric in less than 30 minutes, but my larger books and wall hangings can take hundreds of hours to complete, not counting research and preparation of materials.
