What type of materials do you use?
I use mostly organic and raw materials in my jewelry. I love to use materials that others have not used in designs before.

About Melis
Melis Accessories, known simply as Melis, is based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The pieces encompass a creative fiber that successfully unifies metropolitan sophistication, simplicity and suggestive subtlety using organic shapes and raw materials.
I gather inspiration from my travels, personal relationships and zeal for fashion. Originally from Dallas, Texas, I settled in Scottsdale after graduating from the University of Arizona with a major in Merchandising and Fashion Promotion, and a minor in Business.

While art had been a passion of mine since childhood, it was not until I had placed as runner-up in oil painting at the Texas State Fair that I began to realize that my unique style was one that could be more widely appreciated. Since then, I have experimented in various media, including sketching, sculpture and pottery.

One line that I created has received much attention. Known as STEELO, it is made from an eclectic mix of raw materials, hardware, and crystals. The name itself comes from the Spanish word "Estilo", and Hip Hop Slang "Stilo", meaning style. The hottest seller from the line is an embellished lock, available in many colors. But the clear version is always the most popular.

With new designs created frequently, Melis will always bring you something creative and inspiring to add to your ever-changing attire.

How did you get started in this business?
"I actually got started accidentally. I had basically cut off all of my hair, looking for a change after a breakup with a boyfriend, and wanted to grow it back out. I could not find any hair accessories that would hold all my hair, for it is very thick. I started to make my own hair clips and such. When I wore them, I got stopped left and right. People bought them right off of my head because they didn't want to wait!"

What else should our members know about your jewelry?
"I am always coming out with new designs, and have a great new line coming out towards the end of July. It is kind of a secret for now, but check back on the website for updates and details. OK...a little hint: it is for all the single girls out there. You are just going to love it!"
